The White Rose Project

For many years, Sigma Chi’s Missoula Area Alumni Association has quietly provided a dozen white roses for the memorial/funeral services of Beta Delta brothers. Dan Cederberg ‘75 has faithfully shouldered this responsibility for decades.

In the past, Chapter Eternal information has been relayed to Dan on a hit or miss basis so many brothers have been missed. The goal of the White Rose Project is to honor all Chapter Eternal Beta Deltas by providing an effective and timely way to inform of a brother’s passing.

Here’s the process:

  1. Email details of a Beta Delta’s death to Missoula Area Alumni President Brad Cederberg ‘06 This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the name, date/time/location of memorial/funeral service and obituary (or a link to an online obituary). The obituary will be forwarded to the Magazine of Sigma Chi and University of Montana’s Montanan Magazine and acknowledged in the next Grizzly Sig newsletter. White Roses will delivered to the service.
  1. Include The White Rose Ceremony at the service. It can be performed in 5 minutes and integrated easily with a larger ceremony. The White Rose Ceremony can be enjoyed by non Sigma Chis. Sigma Chi’s Memorial & Cemetery Service document has a variety of options, including The White Rose Ceremony, as time allows. It is best performed by a Sigma Chi brother but can also be done by clergy, friend or family member. It is available at http://sigmachi.org/files/White_Rose_Ceremony.pdf
  1. If you would like to help underwrite The White Rose Project, please donate to Beta Delta’s Heart of the House Campaign at www.betadelta-sigmachi.org > DONATE. All donations are tax deductible.

The White Rose Project will soon find a home at Beta Delta’s website. Information about it will be included in all future Grizzly Sig Newsletters.
